C e l es ti a l N o n e s u ch. A beautiful melon gourd formed vase in the lovely glaze named'Clair de Lune' or Light of the Moon. Hand painted Qianlong mark on base. Chinese, it appears to have significant age, although exact age unknown, presumably Qing. The reign mark of this period has been drawn on porcelain ever since, up until today.
Later porcelain with this mark are often called "fakes" however the occurrence of this mark on later porcelain is most of the time seen as part of the decoration and not to be taken serious. A great object for study or display, this will make a nice addition to any student or appreciators collection of Chinese art and artifacts. Very good condition with no detectable repairs.Some discoloration on foot ring as well as along the side. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering.
